Father Frost (or Ded Moroz) receives his birthday congratulations on November 18th.
Nobody knows though what his real age is but there’s reason to believe that he is about 2,000 years of age.
Several years ago Russian children proposed to celebrate Father Frost’s birthday on November 18th.The point is that meteorological observations over many years show that real winter comes exactly in November in the Russian North. And the home of Father Frost is located in the town of Veliky Ustyug in the Vologda Region.
Father Frost’s birthday is the day when he, not the children, receives presents. By the well-established tradition, Father Frost’s birthday gives the green light to the New Year festivals across Russia.
